World Book and Copyright Day

 

World Book Day, also known as World Book and Copyright Day or International Day of the Book, is an annual event organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to promote reading, publishing, and copyright. The first World Book Day was celebrated on 23 April in 1995.

The initial idea to celebrate World Book Day was conceived by the Valencian writer Vicente Clavel Andres in order to pay homage to the brilliant author, Miguel de Cervantes (known for Don Quixote), whose death day is April 23. Following which, in 1995, during the General Conference held in Paris, the decision to mark April 23 as the World Book and Copyright Day was finalized. The reason being the significance in the date April 23 that bears witness to the birth and death of several distinguished authors around the world.

Books are incredibly important. It is to ensure the culture of reading continues to thrive and spread joy that this initiative by UNESCO was taken.

The three major sectors of the book industry consist of – the publishers, booksellers and libraries. The eventful day celebrates all three aspects to promote reading, publishing and copyright.

Earth Day

 Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. This concept of celebrating Earth Day was founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson. At that time, it was announced as a National Teach-in on the Environment in America only though. Subsequently, as 1990 approached, Earth Day went global. Now, it is celebrated in more than 192 countries. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EarthDay.org (formerly Earth Day Network) including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries.

The official theme for 2022 is Invest In Our Planet.

 National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the notification of Common University Entrance Test Under Graduate CUET UG 2022. Any candidate who wants to take admission in BHU, AU, AMU, DU, JNU, JMI, BBAU, AKTU, MMMUT & Other Various University Under Graduate course can apply online between 06 April 2022 to 06 May 2022. Gallantry Awards

 Gallantry Awards are presented for exceptional courage, valor and dignity. In India, the Gallantry Awards are given to the personnel of the forces for their exceptional bravery. After Independence, the three Gallantry Awards namely the Param Vir Chakra, the Maha Vir Chakra and the Vir Chakra were instituted by the Government of India on 26th January 1950.

Established on 26 January 1950 with retrospective effect from 15 August 1947.

Param Vir Chakra — Highest-military award in India. Awarded for national bravery in the presence of the enemy. This is the equivalent of the Victoria Cross, which was last conferred on Indians in World War II.

Maha Vir Chakra – Maha Vir Chakra is the second-highest military decoration in India and is awarded for acts of conspicuous gallantry in the presence of the enemy, whether on land, at sea or in the air.

Vir Chakra – Third in precedence in the awards for wartime gallantry.
