  • Since 1988, World AIDS Day is observed every year on the first day of December.
  • Around 2.5 million Indians are suffering from AIDS at present.
  • AIDS causes gradual and persistent decline and eventual failure of the immune system of a body.
  • The AIDS disease was first identified in 1981 by the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.
  • The majority of cases of AIDS caused due to sexual transmission, but it is not the sole way HIV is transmitted.
  • HIV is transmitted when an infected person’s blood or body fluids like semen or vaginal fluids get into the body of a healthy person.
  • HIV can be transmitted because of sharing needles be it a medical mistake or during tattooing or during taking drugs.
  • During pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding, HIV can also get transmitted from a mother to their child.
  • The highest numbers of people affected by AIDS belong to the continent of Africa.
  • There are specific minor symptoms of AIDS within a few weeks of HIV transmission, but the significant symptoms start showing after a few months or years.
  • Almost 32 million people have died since the breakout of the AIDS epidemic.
  • International organizations (like WHO), government campaigns, and several NGO initiatives are constantly working for making people aware of AIDS and HIV.
  • On World AIDS Day, free medical camps, counseling, and treatments in hospitals and clinics are conducted for providing support and care to AIDS patients.

World Aids Day is celebrated every year on 1st December every year to raise awareness & knowledge about HIV AIDS. This quiz is generated with the same intention.

National Library Week significance :

Famously called as an Architect of the Public Library Movement in India, Shri Ayyanki Venkata Ramanaiah, secretary, Andhra Pradesh Library Association organised an All India Library Meeting on 12th November, 1912 in Madras. The meeting lead to the formation of Indian Library Association ( ILA) . Later , ILA gave prominence to the 12th November meeting and declared 14th November as National Library Day. This was also the Birth day of our former Prime Minister Shri. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Since 1968 , 14th – 20th November are celebrated as National Library Week all over India.
